K + Colorforms = Nursery Progress

Ok, so they aren't exactly like Colorforms, but they are pretty damn close. On the plus side, j's room is starting to take a little more life. We still need to do more above the crib, but we aren't sure what yet.

It's a week old.

But better late than never!

Nothing really new and exciting going on. j is getting a bit more active, though he did have me worried at the end of last week because I had pretty no movement for almost 2 days. He has since made up for that.

I have the wall decorations on order for the nursery, so should have some updates there soon! We haven't decided what we are going to do on the wall above his crib. Maybe his name, but we aren't totally sold on that. Fortunately we have some time to come up with things.

I'm trying to keep this entry positive, so I will hold off on the baby shower drama that is ensuing. Maybe it will die down in the next month so I don't lose my mind. Ha.

No offroading in the Saturn!

They are not made for it at all!

On the way home from work today, a semi driver decided he needed to be in my lane more than I did. I was about halfway past him when he started merging over (I was on his left, so he has no leg to stand to try to say I was in a blind spot- there is no blind spot on the left side).

Fortunately where I was at the median is fairly flat and I was able to keep the right tires on the rumble strip so I could maintain some control while I let off the gas (hitting the brake would likely have caused me to lose control too easily) and ride it out until I was behind the dipshit. I was also fortunate that he didn't wait a little longer as I was coming up on a speed limit sign that is right before a bridge.

The roadside assistance vehicle did stop to wait to see if I was going to need help, but for the most part my car is fine (I need a new tire as I have a sidewall bulging and likely desperately need an alignment- all of which the company of the driver will be paying for, if they like it or not. We already have a call in to them with their fleet manager). j and I are also fine, I was just extremely pissed/scared/freaked out for a little while.

Happy fucking Tuesday.

I love her, she means well.

I love her, she means well. I need to repeat this about 100 more times.

My aunt strikes again. When I first found out I was pregnant, she wanted to get everything used- crib, car seat, I'm shocked she wasn't out looking for used disposable diapers that had been washed. I had managed to talk her down to just clothes for the time being.

Until the other day. When J went to pick up the furniture for the room, she had picked up another "find". A pressboard dresser with no hardware, the laminate is coming off, the pieces don't even stay together properly. It's trash and that's where it needs to go. I don't even think the city mission would take it- it's in that bad of shape.

So today she stops over with more clothes (and a wipe warmer that doesn't have a cord and is beat to crap). I show her the rooms. Welcome to critique mode- "Why is the rocker in the corner? No one puts it there- it will hit the wall. It needs to go in the middle of the room." Middle of the room would mean there would be maybe 4 inches of walking space on either side. Not happening. "Where are you going to put the other dresser?" Seriously? Maybe I can put it in the middle of the room next to the rocker. We are sick of cluttered rooms and all it would do is clutter up the room more.
And it's crap. She does find awesome deals at times, but I wish she would learn how to tell the difference between a good deal and absolute shit.

Ugh. Off to the dump it goes.

At long last

Dear Lord, it has been nuts around here. I was trying to clean the carpet in the baby's room and we encountered some difficulty- namely the pad was stained, there was almost a pound of crap under the pad- there was no way I was ever going to get it clean. (I will spare you the before photos I took, and even the progress ones- they aren't pretty).

So we have new carpet. In our room as well because we figured it would run into the same problem. Finances prevented us from doing the living room as well (which sucks because it badly needs it too- maybe by the time baby comes).

To top it off, my aunt and uncle are moving to a smaller home and my cousins shot them down on furniture sets, so they gave us- GAVE- an awesome new bedroom set, and at some point we will pick up a new living room set as well.

So may I present, our new bedroom:

Aaaaaaand, the even bigger news- we found out yesterday that we are expecting a boy! John Robert will be joining us early next year. Everything looks great- cervix is great, everything is growing great on little J. He had a couple measurements over a week ahead, based on u/s February 5th would be a more accurate due date, but we are leaving it at the 11th.

My baby boy :)
