1 Year!

Woo hoo! Doesn't seem like we have royally jacked him up so far.

24.2 lbs, 30" 18.5" head (that is still 90-95th percentile). Not too shabby for a year's gain. j is not only a walker, but a runner! He is so confident and stable, it is crazy to think his first steps were a mere 50 days ago. And he's been moving well for almost a month now. Crazy.

And the talking. Oh, the talking. He likes to screech. There's a girl at daycare that does as well, and they have matches to see who can be the loudest. I am jealous that I'm not there for that. They need the sarcasm font around these parts.

Only the plus side, momma is going well. I'm down quite a few pounds, a few inches in the waist, feel far better. No more birth control pills for this gal, I'm managing my issues better with diet and exercise, which I much prefer anyway. If we end up with another, whatever. We are good with that.

Le sigh.

It has been brought to my attention that I am sucking at this again. Fine.

j is growing like a weed. He rocked on his developmental tests at daycare. And he kind of took a couple steps today. It was a total accident and it looked like it almost scared him! We will have a walker soon.

He had a blast unwrapping presents last night. Yes, he got presents for his 10 month b-day. Ok, it was really J's family's Christmas. The upcoming ones should be entertaining. I have been wrapping random crap (diapers, wipes, and so on) to give him more to play with.

He is also cutting yet another tooth. This one is kicking his ass a bit. Probably because there appear to be about 8 others that are coming very soon.

On the adding new babies front, I am still undecided if the birth control pills will continue or not. Right now I am leaning toward no and trying adding vitamins/minerals to see if it helps. My OB had no issues with the pills I suggested and I have already started them. I am still getting some nasty headaches that I can really only account to the Beyaz, but we shall see. I don't like cramping all month long and my last period was actually worse than my first post partum period. That's just fucked up my friends.

Let's see now.

Much has gone down since my last post.

Let's start with me. I had my wisdom teeth pulled. Not my idea of fun, but it really wasn't that bad. Maybe it was the vidocin. Though I only took it for a couple days since J went hunting for a week shortly after. Joy.

It was also during that week that I finally had to come to terms with the PMDD I have had for eons and have never done anything about. j was safely in his room in his crib with the door closed when I broke a mug and spatula. He was standing there fussing while I was bawling while cooking supper. Not good. So shortly after I made a call to my OB and am currently on Beyaz. Other than the fucking headaches, it's not too horrible. I do find it rather stupid that it is prescribed for those with PMDD and a side effect is mood swings and irritability. Helpful.

Which also means that baby #2 is indefinitely on hold. I haven't decided how long I will stay on the pill. I am looking into more natural options and hopefully it will just be a 2-3 month detour. We shall see.

Now on to more fun stuff.

j is pulling up on everything. All the time. Now he will let go and is able to stand on his own for however long he chooses really- he's made it a couple minutes before he got bored and went to find something else to do.

In the last two weeks we have gone from 2 teeth to 6. Holy hell. I did get an amber teething necklace for him and it seemed to help a ton. He went from whiny bag of annoying back to his normal self within a day.

And we are venturing into the wonderful world of cloth diapers. Late, but better than never. Still building a stash, seeing what we like. J rolls his eyes at some of the stuff, but likes some of the other things (like my homemade diaper pail anti-stink cubes). He's not against it- he even tended to one of the poop filled cloth diapers tonight. Of course I doubled up on the liner and he basically had to flush, but that probably helped more than anything! Just sometimes the hippy stuff annoys him. I'll show him annoying.

Am I missing something? Probably. For another time.

Oh yeah, and he's a climber.

Forgive me.

I've been chasing a baby and trying to workout.

Anyway, j is freaking everywhere man. He has no fear and can get to his knees and sometimes even one foot, but no full standing yet.

Working out hasn't been too bad. I've been trying to watch my diet as well. My total cholesterol and triglycerides came back high at my physical, so that kind of forces the issue.

And now for some fun. We have debated for a while who j looks like, and truly it seems to be a toss up from day to day. You be the judge.

This is J, I am on the bottom.

Get back here!

So last weekend j figured out how to go forward (around 3:30 PM on the 11th. Give or take 10 minutes). By now- yeah, he's pretty well mastered that. He is everywhere in a matter of moments. Dear God, save us. I want my rolling baby back- he was much easier to contain.

J and I had a good night Friday. We originally had tickets to a concert, but it was cancelled a couple days in advance. Since we had a room and a babysitter lined up, we said screw it, we're going out anyway. We went to the casino for a bit. Dumped a little money into the penny slot machines. I had about $10 and was just going to kill it so we could go eat and head back to the room to relax. But it kept giving me $.50-$1.50 wins. Just enough to keep me playing. Then the damn machine just starting making a bunch of noise. WTF? J- "What did you win?" k- "I don't know, but it won't stop!". It was like $40. Nothing huge, but enough for me to cash out and get us supper. Sweet. To add to that we had a jacuzzi room, but she gave it to us for the standard government rate (which is like half price for that room), so yeah. Good weekend. j had a blast with my sister and BIL and actually slept for them, so all around good weekend.

Today is catch up on laundry and all other cleaning fun day. Oh joy.

Oh, and j 7 months old. He was 19.6 lbs Friday. I need to get some new pics- it's a little harder to get them now!

Milestones!

So we have reached a couple milestones in the last week. j has learned how to go from hands and knees to sitting. I don't recall there being a whole lot of progress to this, he just started doing it. So now he is really all over the place. He has kind of figured out how to turn himself to get where he's going with rolling and...

backward scooting. He has gotten really good at this. He'll start air humping (or rocking as some less perverse people may choose to call it) and he's actually pushed himself forward a couple times. And then proceeds to get pissed because he doesn't know how he did it.

He has also moved back his bedtime by a couple hours. He seems to be doing better with this, so here's to hoping it lasts. He has been a bit of a bear at nap time, but that's day care's problem a lot of the day.

Since I suck at coming up with ideas

and my life is fairly boring, tonight I bring you random blog musings. Yes, brought to you by a random blog topic generator. I feel like rambling but I have no idea what about.

Workplace Wellness Programs

Sweet, we are just kicking off the next phase of ours. I think these are a fantastic idea if done properly. I do like how ours has approached ours, it would just be nice if they could get a bit more participation. Back when they were giving out gift cards for completing monthly goals it was much higher, but it was insanely easy to cheat on those. And you know people do.

We have discounted options for many solo programs out there (That still cost a chunk, but the company eats a lot of it). Not only are our physicals covered, but we get $100 for getting it done (speaking of, I need to schedule one). We get half back on gym memberships. Our current program that kicks off right after the holiday is just simply a walking one- counting daily steps. $15 to enroll, plus a free pedometer (probably a cheap one, but whatever).

Why is our company willing to shell out this cash? Because it saves them money in the long run, and they recognize that. We had a massive jump last year in claims and our insurance company would have given us a huge jump if it wasn't such a difference from prior years and one other condition- corporate has to push preventive care. Too much was being caught down the line. We got a small increase with a fingle waggle threatening a big jump this year if things didn't improve.

I am fortunate that I have a company that recognizes the need for preventive care and that exercise/wellness programs can help promote that.

And as a prize for reading my random babbling (or if you just scrolled to this because my topic was boring): j cuteness.
Oh yes, at his 6 month appointment he was 27 1/2" (I disagree), 18 lbs 2 oz. Got all his shots and off we went. We are now the proud owners of a nebulizer that our stupid insurance (don't worry, it isn't my company- we are on J's insurance) paid 4 times the going price for. Need to call the pediatric urologist to get the ball rolling on his penis repair.
Now cuteness.
